Job summary

Novelis Oswego is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to help develop and implement safety and occupational health controls to meet regulatory requirements. You will support our purpose, Shaping a Sustainable World Together, and drive site safety programs, mentoring teams, and ensuring compliance with ISO and other certifications.

This role also contributes to a comprehensive benefits package and offers a starting salary of $76,600 per year, with eligibility for incentive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field.
• 1-2 years of meaningful experience with health and safety programs and regulations.
• Ability to interact with employees at all levels effectively.
• Flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment, with multitasking and prioritization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quick learning of new technology.

Responsibilities

• Recognize, evaluate and control employee exposures to industrial risks through the site's safety programs and policies.
• Make daily decisions that impact governmental compliance and prevention of injuries and illnesses.
• Guide facility Security services and liaise between them and the facility.
• Maintain site safety and health programs, provide technical mentorship, and suggest improvements for overall efficiency.
• Promote Novelis' cultural beliefs: Say Anything, Build Trust, Be Authentic & Be Open.
• Adhere to and support quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, ASI).

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator.

The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of safety/occupational health controls, policies, and procedures to achieve and maintain full compliance with regulatory, permit or license requirements in the specific areas of Occupational Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

• Recognize, evaluate and control employee exposures to industrial risks through the active facilitation of the sites Safety Programs and Policies
• Make daily decisions that have a direct impact on the organization’s ability to maintain governmental compliance and the prevention of employee injuries and illnesses
• Help guide facility Security services and be the liaison between them and the facility
• Hold the responsibility of maintaining site safety and health programs, providing technical mentorship on the programs, and providing recommendations on implementation and improvements for the overall efficiency of those programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field
• 1-2 years of meaningful experience with health and safety programs and associated regulations is required
• Be able to interact with employees on all levels of the organization effectively
• Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment, with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
• Proficiency at software applications, including Microsoft Office, and quick learning of new technology

This role’s salary starts from $76,600 per year. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance. In addition to base salary, this position includes participation in a short-term incentive plan (Annual Incentive Plan - AIP or Plant Performance incentive - PPI).

Novelis Oswego is located in northern Central New York on the shores of Lake Ontario and employs approximately 1200 people. The Oswego plant produces more than one billion pounds of high-quality aluminum sheet each year serving customers in the automotive beverage can and specialty markets.
