Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support our safety culture, coordinate EHS programs, and ensure compliance across multiple facilities in the region.

Responsibilities include inspections, incident investigations, audits, training delivery, and maintaining EHS records in line with federal, state, local and company guidelines. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent work experience in safety, environment, or natural sciences.
• 1–3 years of direct workplace safety experience in heavy industry or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of federal and state OSHA/environmental rules and regulations.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters professionally and confidentially.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular EHS inspections and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with incident response and investigations; assist in reporting.
• Lead EHS audits, self-assessments, and inspections.
• Maintain EHS records and performance tracking per guidelines.
• Deliver Safety and Environmental trainings across facilities.
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response.
• Provide regulatory compliance guidance to management and staff.
• Prepare permit applications and reports as required by regulators.

Job description

SA Recycling is looking for a highly motivated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)Coordinator for our team. The EHS Coordinator will actively participate in training, coaching, and culture building activities; the coordination of various environmental, health and safety systems and programs; as well as ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety, occupational health and environmental rules and regulations. The EHS Coordinator will also assist the Regional EHS Manager in supporting EHS efforts across multiple facilities in the assigned region.

This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

• Conduct regular EHS inspections and, if needed, facilitate necessary corrections to address any identified concerns.
• Assist with incident response; actively participate in all injury, property and vehicular investigations; and assist in the compilation and submission of all internal and external incident reporting.
• Participate in, and lead, EHS audits, self-assessments, and inspections.
• Compile and maintain all EHS records and performance tracking in accordance with all applicable federal, state, local and company guidelines.
• Deliver, and assist in the creation, of Safety and Environmental trainings to maintain the appropriate safety standards throughout the assigned facilities.
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
• Provide guidance to management and employees regarding the appropriate practices to remain compliant with all regulatory and company requirements.
• Participate in the creation and submission of permit applications and reports as required by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications for the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

• Associates Degree related to Occupational Safety, Environmental, or Natural Sciences; or equivalent work experience.
• 1-3 years of direct experience with Workplace Safety in a heavy industry or manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrable knowledge of federal and state occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters in a professional and confidential manner.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.
