Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Five years of related experience
• Continuing education required (First responder, regulatory, leadership and safety professional)
• Must exhibit strong leadership and management skills
• Must possess strong organization and record keeping skills
• Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety compliance regulations
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel
• Able to present material to large groups
• Strong MS Office knowledge

Responsibilities

• Partner with plant leadership to build and sustain a proactive safety culture rooted in hazard recognition and employee engagement.
• Drive initiatives that increase ownership of safety through near miss reporting, hazard identification, corrective action follow-through, and risk reduction.
• Coach leaders on effective safety leadership behaviors, including visibility and accountability.
• Implement elements of the WS Safety Improvement Process and ensure EHS systems are maintained.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with ISO 14001, OHSAS 45001, WEIMS, and 3E Online.
• Lead internal and external audit activities relating to ISO 14001 and 45001 and insurance carriers.
• Ensure compliance with all EHS laws and regulations; manage permits and required testing.
• Educate employees on regulatory standards and internal EHS policies; ensure training completion.
• Conduct risk assessments using SFMEA and implement protective measures.
• Communicate performance toward safety/environment goals; interface with regulatory contacts.
