Job summary

Worthington Steel in Porter, Indiana, is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to help create a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace.

This hands-on role involves leading new hire safety orientation, identifying hazards, coordinating inspections, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA and environmental programs across the facility.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of environmental or safety experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry requirements.
• Understanding of SPCC and RCRA environmental compliance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience delivering training and presentations to groups.
• Detail-oriented with solid recordkeeping.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead new hire safety orientation and EHS training.
• Identify hazards, assess risk and support injury-prevention efforts.
• Coordinate safety activities, inspections and safety teams.
• Support incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions and follow-up.
• Serve as facility point of contact for EHS questions and concerns.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements.
• Support environmental programs including waste/chemical management and spill prevention.
• Collect, maintain and report EHS data and records.
• Partner with employees and leaders to strengthen EHS awareness and continual improvement.
• Help ensure Corporate EHS policies are followed.
