Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking an Environmental, Health, & Safety Co‑op at the Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant for Summer/Fall 2027. This role will assist the EHS team with daily tasks and projects vital to meeting environmental, health, and safety goals, while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

The position provides exposure to incident investigations, safety inspections, data collection, and performance reporting, with a pay rate of $27.00 per hour and opportunities

Qualifications

• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Enrolled in a Health & Safety, Physical Therapy, or similar degree program.
• Living in or willing to relocate to the Stevens Point, Wisconsin area from May/June – December 2027
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily safety inspections and hazard identification activities.
• Participate in incident investigations and help identify corrective actions.
• Support the completion and tracking of safety observations and near-miss reports.
• Participate in waste reduction and sustainability projects.
• Conduct environmental data collection and reporting as needed.
• Review safety procedures and recommend improvements.
• Help maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventories.
• Participate in exposure monitoring activities, including noise, dust, and chemical assessments.
• Assist with ergonomic evaluations and improvement opportunities.
• Collect and analyze EHS performance metrics.
• Maintain incident, audit, and training databases.
• Develop charts, dashboards, and reports to communicate EHS performance trends.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and action item completion.
• Lead or support assigned EHS improvement projects.
• Recommend solutions to reduce risk and improve compliance.
• Participate in Lean, 5S, and housekeeping initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to enhance safety culture.
