Job summary

Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Co-op for Summer/Fall 2027 to support daily EHS activities at our Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant. The role emphasizes safety inspections, incident investigations, data collection, and KPI tracking to drive a safer, compliant workplace.

You will work with a team to advance safety culture, participate in Lean/5S initiatives, and develop dashboards and reports communicating EHS performance trends.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Health & Safety, Physical Therapy, or similar degree program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily safety inspections and hazard identification activities.
• Participate in incident investigations and help identify corrective actions.
• Support the completion and tracking of safety observations and near-miss reports.
• Participate in waste reduction and sustainability projects.
• Conduct environmental data collection and reporting as needed.
• Review safety procedures and recommend improvements.
• Help maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventories.
• Participate in exposure monitoring activities, including noise, dust, and chemical assessments.
• Assist with ergonomic evaluations and improvement opportunities.
• Collect and analyze EHS performance metrics.
• Maintain incident, audit, and training databases.
• Develop charts, dashboards, and reports to communicate EHS performance trends.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and action item completion.
• Lead or support assigned EHS improvement projects.
• Recommend solutions to reduce risk and improve compliance.

Purpose: The goal of the Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill’s Co-op program is to cultivate the development of potential future engineering and leadership resources for our organization while providing high-quality process support to the mill’s operations group(s). Co-op assignments are structured to provide candidates with opportunities to grow and develop in their chosen discipline as well as to educate them on various career paths within the organization. Although there is no guarantee of future employment, our goal is to have our Co-ops fully capable of stepping into a full-time engineering position within our organization by the end of the program.

We are seeking an Environmental, Health, & Safety Co-op at our Stevens Point, Wisconsin plant for Summer/Fall 2027. This position will assist the EHS team in the completion of projects and daily tasks critical to meeting Ahlstrom’s environmental, health, and safety goals. Pay Rate:

• $27.00 per hour

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Enrolled in a Health & Safety, Physical Therapy, or similar degree program
• Living in or willing to relocate to the Stevens Point, Wisconsin area from May/June – December 2027
