Job summary

Google is seeking an EHS Cluster Manager to lead the Global Safety Management Framework across the Bay Area campus. You will partner with Engineering, Facilities and leadership to design safety solutions for high-stakes environments including R&D labs and electrical infrastructure.

Strong regulatory knowledge and project management are essential. You will drive safety culture, manage complex projects, and ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, WA regulations while leveraging AI tools to improve risk

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience with EHS operations including EPA, OSHA, and Washington state regulations.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with facility management, security, and business leadership.
  • Preferred licenses or certifications (Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate safety solutions based on proactive risk assessments for R&D and lab settings.
  • Oversee educational materials, program documentation, and digital tracking systems for scale across the Bay Area cluster.
  • Partner with site leads to embed safety protocols into daily operations, ensuring minimal friction and maximum compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments; draft high-level reports for leadership on site safety and health.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents or near misses, tracking corrective actions to completion and ensuring permitting and compliance.

Job description

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) operations including Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Washington State regulations.
Preferred qualifications
  • EHS related licenses, or certifications (Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or similar).
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment in close partnership with facility management teams, security, and business leadership.
  • Experience managing campus operations with a focus on compliance, research labs, permitting, employee safety, and emergency management.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, concurrent projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment; strong analytical and technical skills including the use of AI tools.

As the EHS Cluster Manager, you will be a member of the Global Environment, Health, and Safety team. You won't just be checking boxes, but you will be the primary architect for implementing Google’s Global Safety Management Framework across our dynamic Bay Area campus.You will partner with cross-functional teams, from Engineering to Facilities to build safety solutions for high-stakes environments, including advanced Robotics, R&D labs, and complex electrical infrastructure. Your role requires a blend of technical expertise, regulatory savvy, and the agility to solve problems that don't always have a pre-existing manual. From keeping Googlers safe and secure to managing disruptive events, the ability to anticipate, deter, detect, and act are the pillars of Google’s Global Security and Resilience Services (GSRS) team. As a member of GSRS you will help develop a culture where safety, security and resiliency are integrated into every facet of Google, including the creative process. You will help us continually identify, evaluate and monitor enterprise risks that could affect business activities and provide business leaders the information they need to make critical decisions. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative strategies and develop programs that drive sustainable effectiveness.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $157000 - $227000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
