Job summary

BSI Consulting Services seeks an EHS Senior Consultant - Biosafety to lead laboratory safety programs in San Jose and Oakland. You will drive hazard analyses, risk mitigation, and incident investigations while guiding chemical safety and training across R&D operations.

The role requires 7–15 years in EHS with biosafety expertise, strong leadership, and cross-functional collaboration with senior management. Travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or EHS-related discipline; Master’s preferred.
• 7–15 years of progressive EHS experience in biopharma, biotech, or life sciences with R&D and BSL-1/BSL-2 labs.
• Experience handling hazardous materials and biosafety compliance with NIH/CDC guidelines.
• Ability to lead risk assessments and cross-functional safety initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, USDA, DEA, NIH, CDC regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead laboratory safety programs, inspections, hazard ID and RCA to drive safety culture.
• Develop and approve JHAs; define hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Oversee incident investigations and CAPA; conduct safety reviews with senior management.
• Manage chemical safety programs, inventory reviews, and regulatory compliance.
• Design and deliver biosafety training and annual recertifications.
• Direct spill response, incident mitigation, and regulatory reporting.
• Develop, implement, and improve EHS management systems integrated with organizational goals.
• Support site-wide safety initiatives including pandemic response; travel as needed.
