We are looking for an experienced EHR Implementation Specialist to support the implementation, configuration, testing, deployment, and optimization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems within a healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare workflows and hands-on experience supporting EHR/EMR implementations, working closely with clinical teams, business stakeholders, IT teams, and application vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the end-to-end implementation of EHR/EMR applications, from requirements gathering through go-live and stabilization.
- Work with clinical, operational, and IT teams to understand business and healthcare workflow requirements.
- Configure EHR/EMR applications and modules based on defined requirements.
- Analyze existing workflows and recommend system and process improvements.
- Coordinate with stakeholders during implementation, testing, training, and deployment activities.
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve functional and application-related issues.
- Support system integration and interoperability activities, including HL7 and healthcare interfaces.
- Assist with data migration, validation, reconciliation, and conversion activities.
- Coordinate with EHR/EMR vendors and third-party application teams.
- Support go-live planning, implementation, cutover, and post-go-live support.
- Work with end users and clinical teams to resolve workflow and application issues.
- Prepare and maintain implementation documentation, workflows, configuration documents, and user guides.
- Participate in application upgrades, enhancements, testing, and new module implementations.
- Identify opportunities to improve EHR usability, clinical workflows, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure implementation activities align with healthcare IT, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in EHR/EMR implementation, healthcare application support, or healthcare IT.
- Hands-on experience with one or more EHR/EMR platforms such as Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH, Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of hospital and clinical workflows.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating clinical/business requirements into EHR system configurations.
- Experience with system testing, UAT, troubleshooting, and go-live support.
- Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, APIs, or healthcare interoperability is preferred.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database concepts is a plus.
- Strong communication, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clinical users, business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors.
Work Location
New Jersey – 100% Onsite
This position requires the candidate to work onsite Monday through Friday, five days per week. Candidates must be willing to work fully onsite in New Jersey.
