Position Overview
EHS Manager (Area/Site) – Loenbro Industrial Services reports to the Regional EHS Manager. The EHS Manager establishes and promotes a safety culture across multiple industrial sites, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Through audits, training, and program implementation, the manager minimizes risks, reduces workplace accidents, and maintains a safe, healthy environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee EHS training programs for all employees, including emergency response, hazardous material handling, and equipment safety.
- Create and deliver new hire orientations and hazard awareness training.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, provide educational materials, and organize drills to enhance employee awareness of EHS procedures and regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and storage (KPA) for all training and education completed.
- Implement company EHS policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and other regulations.
- Lead investigations of incidents, document root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide injured employees with timely care, including utilization of CORE Occupational Medicine.
- Communicate and collaborate closely with operations to maintain a culture where safety is integrated into everyday work.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify safety violations, provide solutions, and enforce corrective actions.
- Keep meticulous records of EHS activities and assist EHS management with data gathering, analytics, and creation of meeting topics.
- Engage with regulatory agencies, participate in inspections, and facilitate audits to uphold EHS standards.
- Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement, develop strategic EHS plans, and present findings to senior management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or 5 years of experience in a construction safety position; CHST required within 12 months.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, standards, and codes; proven compliance track record.
- Strong leadership skills; ability to lead and manage a team of EHS personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior experience within heavy industrial construction environments.
- Proven ability to assess hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
- Experience in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of emergency response plans and drills.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with employees and external stakeholders.
- MSHA certification or background preferred.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies such as JSA or HAZOP.
- Experience conducting EHS audits or inspections.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications for documentation and reporting.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations.
- Familiarity with EHS management software or systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to traverse difficult terrain such as trenches/excavations and elevated platforms.
- Capability to lift 1–50 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license required for travel.
Location & Salary
Cedar Rapids, IA – $90,000.00 – $130,000.00
