Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a co-op student in Environmental, Health & Safety to work on assignments related to their EH&S discipline. The role emphasizes hands-on learning and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while delivering value to PCC.

You will engage with manufacturing teams, perform inspections, investigate incidents, and contribute to safety and environmental improvements. A housing allowance and medical benefits are provided to eligible co-ops.

Responsibilities

• Apply principles learned in school to EH&S improvements and solutions.
• Work with hourly workforce on day-to-day safety and health concerns.
• Recommend material handling and ergonomics solutions to reduce injuries.
• Assist in investigation of facility accidents and corrective actions.
• Perform periodic EH&S inspections as assigned.
• Document EH&S compliance requirements in software and filing systems.
• Maintain up-to-date EH&S compliance documentation.
• Review PPE requirements for departments and processes.
• Take ownership of EH&S projects on the manufacturing floor.
• Conduct new hire safety training and orientation.
• Participate in teams to analyze improvements and develop compliance requirements.
• Assist with environmental improvements and waste minimization.
• Perform and revise job/task safety risk assessments.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication in EH&S duties.

These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization while meeting all federal, state, & local compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

• US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Education Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Environmental, Health, or Safety discipline.
• Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Student will spend 60%-70% of time in the manufacturing plant. The position may require contact with hazardous chemicals. Minimal travel may be required.

Other Benefits

This is a 40-hour week position for which Co-ops will be paid for their hours worked. A housing allowance will be provided if eligibility requirements are met. Medical benefits are also available.

Minerva is located about an hour west of Pittsburgh, PA and about 1 hour south of Cleveland, OH.
