Job summary

MACOM, a global semiconductor leader, seeks an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) professional to drive policy, compliance, and continuous improvement across US sites, including Lowell, MA.

You will manage air/waste/wastewater permits, training, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting while coordinating with regulators and internal teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and update environmental health and safety policies and procedures per regulations.
  • Maintain permits: air, stormwater, wastewater; manage hazardous waste; SPCC.
  • Prepare reports, submissions, and regulatory notifications; document monitoring.
  • Coordinate sampling, testing, audits, and training; interface with agencies and auditors.
  • Lead compliance evaluations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support health and industrial hygiene programs; participate in design reviews and changes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, review and update environmental health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with all Federal, State, and local government regulations as well as company and customer standards.
  • Work to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and municipal guidelines with a specific focus on the Semiconductor business
Maintain environmental permits and regulatory programs including:
  • Air permits and emissions compliance
  • Stormwater management and permitting
  • Wastewater discharge compliance
  • Hazardous waste management
  • SPCC and spill prevention programs
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports, permit applications, renewals, and regulatory notifications.
  • Maintain environmental monitoring records and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling, testing, and monitoring activities.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, consultants, and auditors as required.
  • Manage hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous waste programs.
  • Oversee waste characterization, storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal activities.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and improve recycling and resource conservation programs.
  • Support the development and sustaining of the EHS Management System for multiple sites in the US.
  • Lead environmental aspects and impacts evaluations.
  • Coordinate compliance evaluations, management reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain environmental procedures, policies, records, and documentation
  • Monitor environmental regulatory changes and evaluate impacts to facility operations.
  • Conduct environmental compliance audits and inspections and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Support Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene programs
  • Participate in design reviews, facility expansions, and change management activities to evaluate environmental impacts.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments for new equipment, chemicals, processes, and facility changes.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and reporting of EHS training.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses and personal protective equipment reviews and assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance or advice to employees, supervisors, and managers on various EHS compliance requirements.
  • Support other MACOM sites on EHS as directed by the Director.
Key Competencies Required:
  • Superior communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database applications (SAP a plus)
  • Minimum of 1 years related experience with a degree
Previous Relevant Work Experience:
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and policies
  • Experience with EHS regulatory agencies; e.g. EPA, OSHA, AQMD, CAL/OSHA.
  • Experience with hazardous materials (dangerous goods); includes storage and shipping
  • Experience with dangerous substances; includes gases, solids, and liquids
  • Experience in hazardous waste management and wastewater treatment
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related technical discipline.

Hourly Range

The Hourly Range for this position is $23.00–39.00 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidates will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
