Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Microsoft Office 365 proficiency (Outlook, basic Excel). Proficient typing skills.
• Experience with Dealer Management System (DMS) is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills (time-management, scheduling, prioritizing).
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment.
• Clean driving record and acceptable employment background.
• Detail-oriented and solutions-focused, with proactive growth mindset.

The Engineering Garage Assistant supports the development of standardized repair timelines by accurately documenting each step of the automotive service process during time-and-motion studies. The role requires a blend of mechanical interest and administrative precision to ensure that final labor guides reflect realistic, efficient, and high‑quality service standards. This position is based in the Engineering Garage in Fountain Valley, CA.

Responsibilities

• Document labor time studies and produce a final report based on findings.
• Navigate online resources, interpret and use standard automotive service information, and operate MS Office applications efficiently.
• Manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Maintain detailed daily record keeping and reporting.
• Receive and locate shipment of parts.
• Follow and promote high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization.
• Apply the 5‑S methodology (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Keep the work environment clean, help clean the shop, and wash vehicles as needed.
• Assist supervisors with any requested tasks.

Benefits and Compensation

The wage range for this role is $20 to $24 per hour, with adjustments based on skill set, experience, and other business factors. Compensation decisions are made on a case‑by‑case basis.
