Job summary

The Barn Laborer role at Hickman’s Family Farms in TONOPAH, AZ involves maintaining daily barn operations and bird welfare, following GMPs, SOPs, UEP guidelines, and Salmonella requirements. You will perform hygiene, cleaning, inspections, and routine tasks to keep the farm running smoothly.

No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. You may be asked to assist with additional duties as needed by management to support farm operations.

Qualifications

• Basic record-keeping for euthanasia and water checks.
• Strong observational skills to spot egg jams or malfunctions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow GMP/SOP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Shower daily in and out of the facility for hygiene.
• Walk barn fronts and clean transfer fingers regularly.
• Inspect aisles for egg jams and report issues.
• Check water levels in the morning and before leaving with documentation.
• Euthanize sick birds and document rationale and counts.
• Collect floor eggs twice per shift and ensure belt alignment.
• Keep egg belts aligned and operating smoothly.
• Report feed spills on belts to management.
• Move birds and ensure eggs are on the belt for collection.
• Inspect and replace barn lights as needed.
• Clean at least 30 cages daily; use last 30-45 minutes for fronts.
• Clean cobwebs twice a month; monitor barn temperature and inform if hot.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
