Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) seeks an Effort Compliance Manager to oversee payroll compensation compliance reporting. You will work with faculty, PIs, certifiers, and administrative staff to ensure full reporting compliance and proper charging of grants.

Responsibilities include coordinating audits, policy implementation, system enhancements, and supporting investigators to ensure regulatory compliance across federal, state, and university

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in Research Administration.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement Federal, State, and University policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, planning, problem-solving, project management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Ensures institutional compliance related to audit coordination, conflict of interest, IP, IRBs, export controls, effort, or other policies (10%).
  • Serves as a key resource to campus regarding research administration compliance areas and may supervise staff (35%).
  • Supports UW-Madison's technical system needs related to effort management, including reporting system operations, project management, and system upgrades (10%).
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to compliance with regulations (10%).
  • Assists investigators, researchers, administrative staff, leadership, and others to ensure institutional compliance with applicable regulations (35%).

Job Summary

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is responsible for administration of the extramural research grants and contracts to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. RSP currently manages an open portfolio of over $4 Billion with annual awards over $1 Billion.

The Effort Compliance Manager will manage the payroll compensation compliance reporting process at UW-Madison to ensure the University is in full reporting compliance, including: ensuring commitments to sponsors were met; ensuring that grants were not overcharged; and ensuring completion of the provisions of certification and training in accordance with UW-Madison compensation compliance policy and procedures. The Effort Compliance Manager will work closely with campus constituents (including Faculty, PIs, Certifiers, College/School dean's offices, Department Chairs, Department Administrators, Department Compensation Compliance Coordinators, University leaders, and RSP leadership) and external partners (including vendors and sponsors).

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assists principal investigators, researchers, administrative staff, leadership, and others to ensure institutional compliance with applicable regulations (35%)

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is $80,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

This position will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged retirement savings accounts, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.

Required Qualifications

Education
