The EER Building Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all facility, utility, security, safety, and operational continuity/support matters including providing comprehensive management, coordination, and oversight for the EER building to ensure efficient and effective operational support of research activities. The EER Building Manager reports to the Cockrell School of Engineering Director of Facilities Operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment.
This job requires a class “C” operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre‑employment, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return‑to‑duty, and follow‑up drug and alcohol testing).
$89,000 + depending on qualifications
Work is performed in both office and field environments, mechanical rooms, loading docks, rooftops, and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions. Position requires frequent walking throughout multi‑level buildings, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. May be required to operate University vehicles, powered equipment, hand tools, ladders, and other facilities‑related equipment. Position requires flexibility to support evening, weekend, and occasional holiday work in support of operational needs. Must be available to respond to after‑hours facility emergencies, including critical building systems or environmental conditions that could impact operations or collection preservation. Work may involve exposure to dust, noise, construction environments, mechanical equipment, cleaning products, and other conditions associated with facilities maintenance and building operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used when required.
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University‑Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
