Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking an Electrodiagnostic Technician to perform electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients under supervision, following facility policies. The role requires preparing patients, electrode application, safety monitoring, and accurate EEG reporting.

Qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent, BLS, and experience in a patient care setting. Enrollment in END program is preferred; EEG experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Enrollment in or graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited END program preferred.
  • BLS certification required; EEG technologist certification preferred.
  • One year of experience in a patient care environment required; EEG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for testing, communicates procedure information and answers questions, and ensures accurate electrode application.
  • Performs a limited variety of investigational procedures on patients with possible neurologic injury and disease according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors patients and maintains safety during procedures; communicates to other patient care staff.
  • Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
  • Completes technical EEG reports and maintains accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate levels and proper functioning; prepares patient rooms for EEG procedures and performs various administrative functions.

Performs electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury or disease under supervision and according to facility policies and procedures.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares patients for testing, communicating procedure information and answering questions, and ensures accurate electrode application. Collects information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results.
  • Performs a limited variety of investigational procedures on patients with possible neurologic injury and disease according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors patients and maintains safety during procedures. Communicates to other patient care support staff.
  • Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
  • Completes technical EEG reports and maintains accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate levels and proper functioning. Prepares patient rooms for EEG procedures and performs various administrative functions.
Education Requirement

Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience, required.

Enrollment in or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program, preferred.

Certifications
  • Registered or eligible for registration by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists, preferred.
  • BLS certification, required.
Skills

Effective computer operations and technology skills.

Experience
  • One year of experience in a patient care environment, or equivalent education, required.
  • Electroencephalography experience, preferred.
