Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced electroneurodiagnostic professional to perform EEG procedures in a patient-care setting. You will prepare patients, apply electrodes, record and document findings, and ensure quality data for interpretation by the clinical team.

The role requires a strong foundation in EEG techniques, at least three years of experience, a basic degree or higher, and active certifications including ABRET END and R EEG T, with BLS.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • CAAHEP-accredited END program preferred.
  • Three years of EEG procedures in a patient-care setting required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs EEGs and completes reports with accurate documentation.
  • Identifies artifacts and performs basic troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Monitors patient safety and communicates with care team during procedures.
  • Mentors and provides supervision to other team members.
  • Performs investigational EEG procedures per policy and procedure.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment; prepares patient rooms for EEG procedures.
  • Prepares patients for testing, explains procedures, and collects information for interpretation.

Job Description
Essential Functions
  • Completes technical EEG reports and maintains accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination. Provides findings, results, and a descriptive analysis according to facility policy and procedures.
  • Monitors patients and maintains safety during procedures. Communicates to other patient care support staff.
  • Participates in tutoring, demonstrating, and mentoring other team members, providing direct and indirect technical supervision.
  • Performs a limited variety of investigational procedures on patients with possible neurologic injury and disease according to established policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate levels and proper functioning. Prepares patient rooms for EEG procedures and performs various administrative functions.
  • Prepares patients for testing, communicating procedure information and answering questions, and ensures accurate electrode application. Collects information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results.
Education Requirement
  • Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience, required.
  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program, preferred.
Certifications
  • Registered by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists, required.
  • R EEG T certification, Required
  • BLS certification, required.
Skills

Effective computer operations and technology skills.

Experience

Three years of experience in the performance of EEG procedures in a patient care environment, required.
