Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee seeks an experienced neurodiagnostic technologist to perform and maintain competency in electroencephalograms, including portable inpatient EEGs, with electrode placement, calibration, and montage selection for each case.

The role may involve ambulatory EEG, EMU procedures, evoked potentials, and other modalities as site needs; responsibilities include patient prep, history gathering, and explaining procedures to families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year of experience in neurodiagnostics or EEG testing preferred.
• BLS certification within 6 months if required by department leadership.

Responsibilities

• Performs and maintains competency in EEGs (inpatient and portable) by applying electrodes at predetermined positions, checking electrode performance, calibrating equipment, and selecting electrode montages per case.
• May perform ambulatory EEG monitoring, EMU procedures, Evoked Potentials, and other modalities as site needs.
• Prepares patient, gathers history, and explains procedures to patient and family.
• Executes procedures according to lab standards; adjusts controls, uses additional electrodes, montages, and activation procedures as needed.
• Recognizes artifacts, documents, eliminates or monitors artifacts.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and reports to supervisor.
• Performs clerical duties such as scheduling, archiving, and charge entry.
• Positions and transports patients safely; uses proper lifting techniques.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and understanding of growth and development in patients.
