Job summary

Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center in Ankeny, IA seeks an Educator’s Aide to support Lead Educators in delivering nurturing, age-appropriate activities and maintaining a safe, engaging classroom. This part-time role requires assisting with supervision, routines, and family communication while upholding our positive learning environment.

The purpose of the Educator’s Aideis to support theother educators in providing anurturing, positive, and engaging learning environment where students can thrive and develop foundational skills for lifelong success. Working collaboratively and flexibly, Aides play a vital role in fostering social-emotional growth, encouraging curiosity, and supporting consistent daily routines. Shift: 12:00 PM-5:30PM, or 3:30PM-5:30PM M-F

What You’ll Do:

• Assist the Lead Educator in implementing play-based, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that support student’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development, aligned with early learning standards.
• Help maintain a positive classroom culture that fosters a sense of belonging, safety, and curiosity.

Child Supervision and Interaction:

• Provide active supervision to ensure student's safety and engagement in all classroom and outdoor activities.
• Assistin observing and recording developmental milestones under the guidance of the Lead Educator.

Classroom Management Support:

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of the classroom, including toys, surfaces, equipment, and other areas, to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for students.
• Supportpositive behavior guidance strategies.

Family Communication:

• Greet families and support positive daily interactions during drop-off and pick-up times, under the direction of the Lead Educator and Director.
• Help provide updates using the center’s communication platform regarding student ’s daily activities, meals, rest, and learning experiences.

What You’ll Need:

• Must meet the Department of Human Services (DHS) Educator’s Aide qualification requirements.
• Previous experience working with young children in a childcare setting is preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, which may include - standing or sitting for extended periods of time. Lifting and carrying young children and classroom materials - up to 40lbs. Bending, stooping, and kneeling to interact with children at their level. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring physical intervention.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and meet state licensing requirements for working in a childcare setting.
• Must possess a valid CPR/First Aid certification, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
