Job summary

Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center is seeking an Educator's Aide to support lead teachers in delivering developmentally appropriate activities for young children. The role emphasizes safe supervision, nurturing communication with families, and collaborative classroom support to foster growth.

You will assist with curriculum implementation, help maintain a positive classroom culture, and participate in documenting developmental milestones under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must meet Minnesota Department of Human Services Teacher’s Aide qualification requirements.
• Previous experience with young children in a childcare setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 65 lbs and bending/kneeling as needed.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with state licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Educator with play-based, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with Minnesota standards.
• Provide active supervision to ensure children's safety and engagement in all activities.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe classroom environment and support positive behavior guidance.
• Greet families and support positive daily interactions during drop-off and pick-up and share updates via the center’s communication platform.

What You’ll Do:

Support Curriculum Implementation:

• Assist the Lead Educator in implementing play-based, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that support children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development, aligned with Minnesota’s early learning standards.
• Help maintain a positive classroom culture that fosters a sense of belonging, safety, and curiosity.

Child Supervision and Interaction:

• Provide active supervision to ensure children's safety and engagement in all classroom and outdoor activities.
• Assist in observing and recording developmental milestones under the guidance of the Lead Educator.

Classroom Management Support:

• Assist in maintaining an organized, clean, and safe classroom environment.
• Support positive behavior guidance strategies.

Family Communication:

• Greet families and support positive daily interactions during drop-off and pick-up times, under the direction of the Lead Educator and Director.
• Help provide updates using the center’s communication platform regarding children’s daily activities, meals, rest, and learning experiences.

What You’ll Need:

• Must meet the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Teacher’s Aide qualification requirements.
• Previous experience working with young children in a childcare setting is preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, which may include - standing or sitting for extended periods of time. Lifting and carrying young children and classroom materials - up to 65lbs. Bending, stooping, and kneeling to interact with children at their level. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring physical intervention.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and meet state licensing requirements for working in a childcare setting.
• Must possess a valid CPR/First Aid certification, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.

The starting pay range for this position is $14 to $17 an hour and is applicable for candidates who will be working in the following location[s] Minnesota. This range is subject to adjustment for other geographic work locations. In addition to geographic location, Yellow Brick Road considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands, and other qualifying criteria to determine starting wages.
