Qualifications
- Applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university and hold a current and valid 5‑year standard Teaching License in Mississippi.
- Applicant must have at least 5 years of teaching experience.
- Applicant must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and community.
- Applicant must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift 10 pounds.

Job Goal
Secondary – Deliver Level I Construction Core and Level II Carpentry content to high school students with a dedicated effort to lead them toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains a good relationship with those in the carpentry industry, keeping abreast of current trends in the field to assure that methods and techniques are relevant.
- Assists in the recruitment of students for the program.
- Assists with the registration and pre‑registration of students in the program.
- Follows an approved course of study and lesson plans.
- Prepares classroom, technology‑enriched, and skill attainment instruction.
- Assumes responsibility for students in the lab area, concept maps, needed skills for objectives, and evaluation.
- Attends on‑site and off‑site faculty meetings and trainings.
- Communicates with the CTE Director and other instructors regarding student concerns and issues and student progress as appropriate.
- Maintains and files student records in a timely manner.
- Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments.
- Recommends instructional materials, equipment, and program supplies.
- Keeps CTE Director informed of any problems with students.
- Dresses appropriately and behaves in a professional manner.
- Assists in the organizational and Advisory Committee meetings.
- Observes, supports, and enforces the regulations, policies, and programs of the district and institution.
- Informs the CTE Director in writing of any problem that might be detrimental to the institution.
- Plans instruction according to the district instructional management plan.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designed.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning by organizing time, space, materials, and equipment for instructions.
- Prepares for students and classes assigned, incorporating the instructional management program and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
- Demonstrates an understanding of subject matter being taught while employing a variety of instructional techniques, methods, and media related to the objective and consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual and groups involved.
- Encourages students to achieve at least the minimum requirements for promotion in subject areas required for assigned grade level.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy on education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Obtains and uses information about the needs and progress of individual learners and about the effectiveness of instruction, revising it when necessary.
- Refers learners with special problems to specialists.
- Helps students to develop positive self‑concepts and encourages them to set and maintain high standards of classroom, bus, and cafeteria and playground behavior.
- Counsels students when problems arise and adjustments are needed.
- Works to maintain open lines of communication with students and parents on pupil’s academic and behavioral problems and suggests remedial action(s).
- Accepts a share of responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings, PTA meetings, in‑service and/or professional development when scheduled by principal or departments within the central office.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with fellow co‑workers and administrators.
- Provides for self‑professional growth through participation in workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
- Meets expectations as required by the MS Teacher Evaluation System (MTES).
- Displays pride and loyalty to self, school and district.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as requested by his/her supervisor(s).
