Job summary

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory seeks full-time educators for the DNA Learning Center NYC in Downtown Brooklyn. You will join a leading team delivering genetics education, including genomics, bioinformatics, and data science, to thousands of students and teachers.

The role emphasizes hands-on biology instruction, collaboration with staff, and opportunities to contribute to teaching modules and outreach programs. Domestic and international travel may be expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in science (biology or molecular genetics preferred).
• Strong science background with an interest and/or experience in teaching.
• NYSD teaching certification preferred, but not required.
• Recent PhD graduates encouraged, especially with genomics, DNA barcoding or bioinformatics.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on genetics and molecular biology instruction for precollege students during field trips, camps and extended projects.
• Deliver in-school instruction and assist with lab testing and prep.
• Conduct teacher training and develop teaching modules.
• Present public tours and engage with visiting educators.

Worker Type: Regular Job Description: Position Description: The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has immediate full-time educator positions available at DNA Learning Center NYC (DNALC NYC) in Downtown Brooklyn. The selected candidate will join a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods in genetics education, including the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, and data science. Over 700,000 students have conducted experiments with DNALC staff—join our team as we aim to reach a million and more!

Position Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on genetics and molecular biology instructiton to precollege students visiting the DNALC for academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects

Position Requirements

• EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in science (biology or molecular genetics preferred)
• EXPERIENCE: Strong science background required with an interest and/or experience in teaching
• OTHER: NYS teaching certification preferred, but not required.
• Recent PhD graduates who would like to pursue teaching careers are also encouraged to apply-especially those with experience in personal genomics, DNA barcoding, metabarcoding, or bioinformatics
