Loma Linda University Health is seeking an Educator-Dentist to mentor and instruct School of Dentistry students in preclinical and clinical education. The role involves managing untoward reactions and emergencies during dental treatment, and performing other duties as needed.
The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Dentistry, have current DDS licensure and BLS, and possess strong communication, teaching, and technology skills to support modern educational methods.
The Educator-Dentist provides mentorship and instruction to School of Dentistry students assigned to preclinical and clinic education. Manages unexpected situations related to the dental treatment of patients, such as untoward reactions to treatment and emergencies. Performs other duties as needed.
Doctorate Degree in Dentistry or equivalent required.
Minimum one year of experience preferred.
Knowledge in the discipline being taught.
Possess training and competence to manage unexpected situations related to the dental treatment of patients.
Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations.
Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner.
Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload.
Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
Distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Current DDS licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
