The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. in Lynchburg, Virginia seeks an independent professional to design and implement faculty development and support for technology-based teaching under the Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence.
You will assist with Canvas help tickets and consultations, and coordinate with Information Technology, the Jerry Falwell Library, and curriculum partners to promote effective use of instructional technology.
Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretionunder the direction of Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence, designs and implementsfaculty development and support for technology-based teaching and learning; supports Canvas helptickets and consultations with residential faculty, teaching assistants and graduate assistants;liaisons with Information Technology, the Jerry Falwell Library, the Center for Curriculum Developmentand the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in planning and designing new opportunities forinstructional technology classroom implementation; and coordinates the effective use of research,design, development, support, and evaluation of technology-based course delivery, teaching, andlearning.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional/EducationalTechnology or related field plus 2 years of teaching or academictechnology support in a K-12 or higher education setting required.Knowledge of distance learning tools and concepts, classroomtechnologies (Clickers, SMART Board, etc.), lecture capture tools,social media (blogs, wikis, Twitter and MS or Google onlinecollaborative tools), Web 2.0 tools, and research tools andpractices preferred. Possess knowledge of academic courseware andemerging trends in instructional computing and media technologies,including pairing publisher course cartridges with the Canvasmanagement system. Effective communication both verbally and inwriting. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information andevents, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both aroutine and complex nature. Excellent computer and organizationalskills. If the employee is required to travel in performing theduties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’spersonal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proofof a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU DrivingApproval, and liability insurance is required when driving in theperformance of the employee’s position.

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications,experience, education, skills, and certifications, along withUniversity needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarksmay be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity toensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensationstructure.
