Educational Technician III - Summer Boost

(Hourly Rate Based on Step on Scale)

As an Educational Technician III, you will support classroom teachers in enhancing the learning environment for students participating in the Summer Boost program, aiming to reduce learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and improve academic achievement in K-12 mathematics, literacy, and social-emotional learning.

Qualifications

Must meet Maine Educational Technician III requirements and have coursework in education or a related field. The ideal candidate is a team player, creative problem solver, and demonstrates strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills such as calmness, kindness, and a warm demeanor.

Summer Site Coordinator

Essential Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Assist in preparing and implementing school-wide activities.
  • Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Participate in district-provided in-service training.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
Team Member
  • Assist with building duties and routine tasks assigned by the Summer Site Coordinator.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials with teachers and supervisors.
  • Ensure students’ safety and well-being.
  • Support substitute teachers in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Carry out behavioral programs and expectations during recess, lunch, and small groups.
  • Assist with clerical tasks.
Student-Centered
  • Work with students with special needs and demonstrate sensitivity to their needs, as well as those of parents, staff, and the building.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to implement curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
  • Supervise students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  • Assist with snacks and cleanup routines.
  • Report any issues or important information about students to teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summer Schedule
  • Pre-Summer Boost: Planning, training, and preparation.
  • Summer Boost: June 26 - August 1, Mondays to Thursdays, 7:45 AM to 12:15 PM.
  • Post-Summer Boost: Wrap-up duties immediately after the program concludes.
