Job summary

Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA) is seeking a Special Education Team Leader for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time role manages the IEP process under the Director of Student Services, leading the IEP team and related communications.

Qualifications

  • Massachusetts DESE Special Education certification or equivalent.
  • Experience developing Individualized Education Plans.
  • Knowledge of transition planning.
  • Experience with culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with secondary students is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the IEP evaluation process and current laws.

Responsibilities

  • Chair IEP Team meetings.
  • Complete documentation from team meetings.
  • Develop, write, and review IEPs.
  • Maintain regular communication with staff and administration involved in the team process.

Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA) provides students with a supportive and challenging environment that is responsive to multiple learning styles, emphasizes learning through the arts, and integrates critical and creative thinking throughout the curriculum. PVPA prepares all of our students for higher education by employing a rigorous, standards‑based curriculum in a nurturing and collaborative environment.

PVPA has an opportunity for a Special Education Team Leader (ETL) for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will be a full‑time professional who manages the IEP process. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the ETL will be responsible for the IEP team function and related communications.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as chairperson of IEP Team meetings.
  2. Complete mandatory documentation paperwork from team meetings.
  3. Develop, write, and review Individualized Educational Plans.
  4. Maintain regular communication and collaboration with staff and administration involved in the team process.
  5. Collaborate with special education liaisons, guidance counselors, and families to obtain consents for evaluations based on the individual case.
  6. Collaborate with personnel in sending districts to facilitate transition of students with IEPs into PVPA.
  7. Engage and partner with families involved in the IEP team process.
  8. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with general education staff.
  9. Provide routine collaboration with Special Education support staff.
  10. Maintain routine contact with the Student Services Office.
  11. Attend school‑wide trainings and special education department meetings.
Qualifications
  1. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Special Education certification or similar certification.
  2. Experience developing Individualized Educational Plans.
  3. Knowledge and experience with transition planning.
  4. Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  5. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and facilitation skills.
  6. Prior experience working with secondary students is desirable.
  7. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  8. Demonstrated experience working with and implementing the special education evaluation process, parents' rights, and current special education law and regulations.
Salary

$66,836 - $68,000 annually with potential for a bonus at the end of the fiscal year.

Work Schedule

2026-2027 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty‑five‑hour work week.
