Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Miscellaneous Educational Support Staff to assist in daily school operations and instructional support. You will supervise students, maintain safety, and help teachers with materials and classroom tasks.

Responsibilities include supervising during lunch, arrivals, and dismissal; monitoring hallways and entrances; and providing clerical support and basic instructional assistance as directed by certified staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Good knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and basic mathematics.
• Ability to work effectively with school-aged children and follow instructions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff, students, and visitors.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to operate standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during lunch, playground, arrival, dismissal, and bus loading/unloading.
• Monitor hallways, main entrances, and corridors for security and to keep students in assigned areas.
• Assist teachers with organizing learning materials, bulletin boards, and classroom setup.
• Operate standard office equipment to reproduce materials, track attendance, and process basic records.
• Greet and direct visitors and assist with routine parent/guardian communications.
• Provide general support to individual students or small groups under guidance of certified teachers.
