Job summary

Allied Instructional Services seeks experienced educational interpreters to join our team of independent contractors serving deaf or hard-of-hearing students. You will collaborate with a school-based team and support students across educational settings, providing high-quality interpretation.

Professionals must maintain RID/EIPA standards, be willing to travel, and adapt to diverse classrooms. AIS supports interpreters through strong district partnerships and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Must hold EIPA 3.5+ or RID/NIC or VQAS level 3.
  • Willing to provide interpreting services in educational settings and at all levels.
  • Willing to travel and have reliable transportation (if not working remotely).

Responsibilities

  • Provide interpreting services to deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals in the educational setting.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with educational staff, parents, students, and community members.
  • Demonstrate professional judgment and adhere to RID Code of Ethics/Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct within school environments.
  • Attend meetings (child study, IEPs, triennial reviews) as requested.
  • Collaborate with the educational team to ensure access to communication and curriculum.
  • Function as a positive member of the educational team.
  • Maintain records of communications and travel for supervisor review.
