Job summary

Waco ISD is seeking an Interpreter – Sign Language (Non-Certified) to provide qualified ASL/English interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and staff. The role supports equal access, cultural mediation, and collaboration with classroom teams.

The interpreter will work under the RDSPD Coordinator/Interpreter Services Specialist, pursuing BEI/RID credentials while delivering high-quality interpreting during instructional time and related activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Working toward DARS BEI or RID certification.
• RID/EIPA certification at level 4.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Render accurate messages preserving content and spirit for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
• Match communication to students' needs using ASL/English.
• Prepare for classes by meeting with instructors and reading materials.
• Maintain confidentiality per district and RID code.
• Participate in professional development to maintain certification.
