Job summary

Capital Area Intermediate Unit is seeking a qualified interpreter/transliterator to support students in an educational setting.

The role follows the collective bargaining agreement and starts at Bachelor’s degree, Step 1, with a schedule of 190 days/year and 7.5 hours/day. Duties include providing interpreting and transliteration for IEPs, school activities, and collaboration with D/HH staff to support student goals.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interpret/transliterate in educational settings.
• Maintain confidentiality per policy and law.
• Adhere to RID Code of Professional Conduct in all situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting/transliterating in all situations according to the student’s IEP.
• Provide interpreting/translating for school activities for Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals.
• Adhere to CAIU confidentiality policies.
• Demonstrate professionalism and RID ethics in educational settings.
• Develop and present orientations for staff and students on hearing loss and interpretation.
