Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Pediatric and Public Health provides oral health care for individuals from infancy through adolescence, and promotes the prevention of oral disease. The Pediatric Dentistry discipline is committed to the treatment of children, adolescents and special needs patients while balancing teaching, scholarship, patient care, research and professional service activities.

Position Summary:

The Educational Programs Coordinator administers and coordinates the administrative and operational functions of the Pediatric Dentistry graduate/residency and predoctoral (DDS) educational programs within the Adams School of Dentistry. The position serves as the designated Graduate Medical Education (GME) Coordinator and primary departmental liaison to UNC Health GME, providing comprehensive program administration to support effective operations and compliance with University, School, program, and hospital requirements.
The position coordinates the full range of administrative processes associated with the Pediatric Dentistry residency program, including resident recruitment, appointments, onboarding, orientation, credentialing, hospital privileges, licensure, benefits, payroll, insurance, and required system access for U.S. and international residents. The position administers residency program systems and processes, including MedHub and TimeTrex; coordinates resident evaluations and Annual Program Evaluation activities; maintains program records and communications; coordinates residency-related scheduling and educational activities; and coordinates resident travel and program events using applicable University systems and procedures.
The position also coordinates operational support for Pediatric Dentistry predoctoral (DDS) didactic, laboratory, and clinical education activities. In collaboration with course and program directors, the position coordinates course preparation, educational materials, course documentation, communications, scheduling, and other logistical requirements necessary for effective course and program delivery. The position monitors student and resident educational and clinical requirements, coordinates applicable assessment and program documentation, identifies and assists with resolving program and procedural issues, and serves as a primary administrative resource to residents, students, faculty, program leadership, UNC Health GME, and other institutional partners.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences:
  • -Experience coordinating educational, residency, graduate medical education, or academic course/program activities within a higher education, healthcare, or clinical environment.
  • -Experience coordinating complex program administration processes involving multiple stakeholders, such as recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, licensure, scheduling, program evaluations, and/or learner records.
  • -Experience using educational, clinical, or program administration systems, such as EPIC, MedHub, TimeTrex, or similar systems.
  • -Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and experience maintaining, organizing, and reporting complex program data, records, and documentation.
  • -Demonstrated experience independently managing multiple priorities, researching and resolving non-routine program or administrative issues, and communicating effectively with faculty, residents, students, and internal and external partners.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
