Job summary

BUTLER COUNTY SCHOOLS is seeking an Assistant Principal to assist the Principal with administrative and instructional leadership to meet students' educational needs and carry out the mission and goals of the school and the System.

The candidate will hold a Master’s degree and leadership certification, have at least three years of teaching or administrative experience, and supervise professional staff while supporting safe, effective teaching and learning environments.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education leadership or higher.
• Certification in Educational Leadership or Administration and Supervision.
• Minimum of three years teaching or administrative experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Principal in providing leadership, direction, and oversight for administrative and instructional functions.
• Assist in developing a school curriculum guide used for class registration.
• Assist in developing and monitoring school registration processes.
• Assist in coordinating the school’s accreditation programs.
• Supervise assigned personnel and conduct annual performance appraisals.
• Oversee administration of all testing programs at the school.
• Administer dropout prevention programs.
• Assist in interviews and selection of personnel.
• Help provide a safe and secure learning environment for teachers and students.
• Supervise extracurricular activities.
• Collaborate with staff to plan professional growth.
• Provide curriculum and instructional leadership.
• Support School Business Partners and community involvement.
• Demonstrate proactive problem-solving and planning to avoid issues.
• Contribute to the School Improvement Plan development and implementation.
• Evaluate course offerings to meet student needs.
• Coordinate the school technology plan and curriculum monitoring.
• Monitor ESE programs for compliance with guidelines.
• Assist in substitute teacher selection and assignments.
• Assist in developing department assignments and duty rosters.
• Organize safety drills and submit reports.
• Assist in facilities and grounds oversight and work orders.
• Prepare required reports and manage textbook budgets.
• Develop facility use plans for community use.
• Monitor guidance functions and attendance plans.
• Coordinate schedules for extracurricular activities and in-service growth.

Education

Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution

Certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal or Professional School Principal, or Administration and Supervision

Minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience and/or administrative experience
