Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is seeking an experienced educational interpreter coordinator to lead professional development and oversee BEI/RI D certification paths. The role includes mentoring interpreters, coordinating cross-campus services, and supporting ARD/IEP processes for Deaf Education.

The position requires 3–5 years in educational interpreting, strong knowledge of Special Education laws, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct. On-site collaboration across campuses is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred (related to interpreting or the field of deafness preferred).
Valid certification in interpreting issued either by BEI or RID; Advanced BEI preferred.
Knowledge of the educational interpreter role and RID Code of Professional Conduct.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence professionally.
Ability to read and interpret educational documents.
Develop and provide quality staff development for interpreters and non-certified staff; conduct interpreter evaluations.
Knowledge of communication modalities used by the deaf and hard of hearing.
Knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations.
Experience supervising or mentoring interpreters preferred.
Experience coordinating services across multiple campuses preferred.
3-5 years of experience in educational interpreting.

Responsibilities

Develop and provide staff development courses to promote professional growth in interpreting and transliterating.
Prepare and submit CEU applications as required by the cert body.
Evaluate, observe, and provide feedback for interpreters and support staff.
Establish a network with local universities and interpreter agencies for recruiting.
Participate in local Interpreter Training Program Advisory Committee.
Provide presentations on the role of the educational interpreter to district staff.
Mentor non-certified staff for BEI testing preparation.
Schedule/interpreters for extracurricular activities and other needs.
Attend ARD/IEP meetings and Full and Individual Evaluations when needed.
Monitor interpreter needs of students in the cooperative program.
