Job summary

Brunswick County School District Exceptional Children - Bolivia, North Carolina is seeking an Educational Interpreter to facilitate communication among deaf/hard of hearing students and their hearing peers, the classroom teacher and other personnel in the school environment.

Interpreters study lesson content prior to class to ensure accurate representation of the lesson, and serve as a liaison to promote positive and cooperative relationships within the school environment.

Qualifications

• EIPA score 3.5+ (Interpreter II) or level 3 for cued language transliterator.
• EIPA score 4.0+ (Interpreter III) or level 3 for cued language transliterator for higher grade.
• Licensure from RID or NAD or TEC Unit plus five years of educational setting experience
• Annually complete 20 hours of professional development approved by the local education agency

Responsibilities

• Facilitates communication among deaf/hard of hearing students, hearing peers, teachers and staff.
• Studies lesson content prior to class to ensure accurate representation of the lesson.
