Job summary

Cumming Group in Los Angeles seeks a Design Manager to lead the design process for LAUSD projects on-site in downtown LA. You will coordinate with Architects, consultants and district staff to ensure plans meet programmatic, budgetary and regulatory standards while guiding the design team to deliver high-quality facilities.

The ideal candidate holds a California-registered architecture or engineering credential, has 8+ years of facilities design experience (including educational facilities), and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering required.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience managing the facilities design or the planning and coordination of capital projects.
• At least 4 years of this experience must be with the planning, design, and construction of educational facilities or similar public agencies.
• A CA Architect Registration or PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates the district's design process for the A&E Services division to ensure plans meet program, budget, environmental, and legal requirements.
• Manages multiple projects, including engineering repair and critical repair, with Architects, consultants, and District personnel to ensure timely completion.
• Oversees the design process to ensure compliance with LAUSD standards and guidelines for the district.
• Establishes and follows a process to identify and select architectural firms based on qualifications and performance.
• Provides Architects with clear direction on goals, standards, site, schedule, and budget.
• Establishes and follows an effective design review process to meet project objectives.
• Reviews design changes to keep projects within budget and scope.
• Monitors design status and reports findings and updates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
