The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services seeks an Educational Diagnostician II to perform developmental evaluations of 0- to 3-year-old children for Infant-Toddler eligibility and to assess family needs for early intervention supports.

This role is part of a multidisciplinary clinical team with a hybrid-teleworking schedule that includes weekly onsite hours, and you will prepare written reports detailing findings and recommendations for service planning.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and conditions that lead to developmental delays/disabilities.
  • Knowledge of and skills in administering developmental evaluation measures for young children who may have delays or disabilities.
  • Understanding of functional assessment as it relates to the NC Infant-Toddler Program.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to establish rapport with children and families as well as co-workers.
  • Excellent communication skills are also needed to effectively interpret assessment results and prepare written reports.

Description of Work

As a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team the Educational Diagnostician II conducts developmental evaluations of 0- to 3-year-old children to determine eligibility for the Infant-Toddler Program and to assess child and family needs for early intervention supports and services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Management Preferences
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and conditions that lead to developmental delays/disabilities.
  • Knowledge of and skills in administering developmental evaluation measures for use with young children who may have delays or disabilities.
  • Understanding of functional assessment as it relates to the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program.

Salary Range
  • $52,592 -$92,036
  • Recruitment Range: $52,592 -$71,133
Physical Requirements
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
Visual Acuity Requirements
  • Work requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
  • Work requires visual acuity to operate motor vehicles
  • Work requires visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned

Position is eligible for a hybrid-teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours
