Job summary

Rio Rancho Public Schools is seeking an Educational Diagnostician for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves evaluating students, participating in MDT/IEP processes, and collaborating with families and staff.

This is a 190-day contract under the RRPS Special Services Department in Rio Rancho, NM. Starting immediately, qualification requires a Master’s degree and an active New Mexico license for Educational Diagnostician.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Current New Mexico Department of Education license appropriate to Educational Diagnostician.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual educational evaluations for students referred through the MDT.
• Utilizes a variety of instruments to assess educational and intellectual factors influencing learning.
• Schedules time to provide adequate service and writes reports for educational placement and instructional strategies.
• Serves as a member of the IEP committee as needed.
• Consults with parents to gather data and interpret results for placement and instructional decisions.
• Maintains open communication with students, parents, staff, and administration.
• Maintains accurate, complete records as required.
• Maintains assessment materials and supplies provided by the District.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Provides individual educational evaluations for students referred through the MDT;
• utilizes a variety of instruments to assess the educational and intellectual factors influencing learning processes;

• servesas a member of the IEP committee as needed;

• gather, maintain, and submit accurate, complete records as required;
• receiveand maintain assessment materials and supplies as provided by the District;
• maintaincontinuous record of students evaluated;
• useand cooperate with support services offered by the District to aid the evaluation process;
• developand maintain an environment conducive to valid assessment procedures when testing;
• takeall necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
• maintain a professional relationship with colleagues;
• uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy;
• bepunctual in meeting all school schedules;
• maintainand improve professional competence as required by District and state;
• demonstrate knowledge of essential subject matter related to student assessment and special education instruction;
• demonstrate effective use of oral and written expression;
• attend and participate in Department staff meetings, in-services, and other meetings as required.
