Job Description
The Educational Assistant works under the direction of certified staff to support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, personal care, and overall developmental needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Specialized Visual Access & Technology: Demonstrate existing proficiency or a strong willingness to complete training in understanding the unique needs of students with visual impairments, including the use of specialized assistive technology, media adaptations, and Braille transcription.
- Comprehensive Student Support: Provide holistic support across all areas of student development, including academic instruction, social-emotional learning, behavioral guidance, and personal care routines.
- Independence & Empowerment: Facilitate learning experiences and daily activities that foster student autonomy, confidence, and active participation in the classroom.
- Collaboration & Communication: Partner effectively with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to adapt instructional materials, implement individualized accommodations, and maintain organized records and schedules.
Education and/or Experience:
- Educational Background & Versatility: High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated willingness and adaptability to support students across all age levels and with a wide variety of academic, physical, developmental, and social-emotional needs.
- Literacy & Functional Communication: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and operational memos to ensure effective day-to-day coordination.
- Professional Relationships & Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with students, certified teachers, multidisciplinary staff, families, and community stakeholders.
- Confidentiality & Professional Boundaries: Demonstrated commitment to exercising discretion, maintaining strict student confidentiality (in alignment with FERPA/privacy standards), and upholding appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
- Compliance & Policy Awareness: Ability to execute all job duties with full awareness of and adherence to district requirements, school guidelines, and Board of Education policies.
- Flexibility: Willingness to perform other duties as assigned to support student success and smooth educational operations.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $18.69 Per Hour
