Job summary

Brandon Valley School District 49-2 seeks an Educational Assistant to support classroom teachers with learning materials, instructional activities, and student supervision in BVIS. Requirements include a high school diploma; preferred are an Associate Degree or 48 college credits, or passing the ParaPro South Dakota test.

Responsibilities include tutoring; supervising students; assisting with personal needs; maintaining discipline; and supporting regular attendance, with terms set by the Board

Qualifications

• Requires completion of high school or equivalent.
• Preferred: associate degree or higher, 48 college credits, or ParaPro SD test.
• Some paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child-oriented setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional activities.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch and other activities as assigned.
• Assist students with personal needs (i.e. toileting, brushing teeth) as assigned.
• Maintain discipline of students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Regular attendance is required.
