Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools is seeking a Certified Educational ASL Interpreter for CRLS-L (40 hours per week, 10 months) in Cambridge, MA. You will interpret for deaf/hard of hearing students and staff, support tutoring, participate in IEP meetings, and collaborate with the World Languages team.

Must have a Bachelor's degree, ASL/English fluency, RID Code of Professional Conduct knowledge, 1–5 years of interpreting, and ability to work with diverse K-12 communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; fluency in ASL and English.
  • Deaf interpreter training and knowledge of meeting communication modes.
  • Adherence to RID Code of Professional Conduct and standards.
  • 1–5 years of working interpreting experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expressive and voice interpretation for deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff.
  • Tutoring and review services when not interpreting.
  • Participate in IEPs and educational team meetings.
  • Serve as liaison between Deaf and hearing staff.
  • Interpret at school functions outside classroom as needed.
