Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• 30 semester hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or three creditable years as an educational aide I or II.
• SBEC Educational Aide III paraprofessional certificate.

Responsibilities

• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises.
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or assignments.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day (lunchroom, bus duty, playground).
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care as needed.
• Assist in managing student behavior and crisis intervention, including restraining disruptive or dangerous behavior as needed.
• Keep staff informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
