MercyFirst in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an Educational Specialist to support foster youth from early education through elementary school. You will collaborate with case planners, schools, and families to navigate referrals to special education and arrange transportation as needed.

You will advocate for students in IEP meetings, coordinate tutoring referrals, and track educational progress using CONNECTIONS and Fair Futures platforms. A Bachelor’s degree and child‑services experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health) with 2+ years of experience
• Associate’s degree with a minimum of 3 years in related work with at‑risk youth
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; some knowledge of Excel
• Ability to file documentation accurately
• Ability to engage with clients
• Commitment to the agency’s Mission, DEIB and values

Responsabilités

• Connect youth with quality schools, programs, resources and opportunities aligned with their goals
• Collaborate with case planners, tutors, educational specialist, care managers, teachers and parents
• Assist and support youth toward identified educational goals
• Complete administrative responsibilities including weekly data entry in CONNECTIONS and Fair Futures
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator
