Job summary

Job description

Job Overview

The Educational Advisor of TRIO Upward Bound Programs is the primary liaison between Saint Louis University, McCluer North public school district partners, participants, parents, and community representatives interested in the TRIO Upward Bound programs. The Advisor visits the program schools to implement and manage day‑to‑day operations, maintain program records, and prepare reports.


Job Responsibilities


  • Ensure programs for participants are organized, monitored, and managed to meet goals and objectives, designing, developing, and directing all facets of the Upward Bound Program and Student Support Services under policies and procedures.

  • Track expenditures, maintain financial records, and submit federal reports and continuation proposals in compliance with federal guidelines.

  • Interview and assess eligible students, collect data, and evaluate program effectiveness.

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with university, federal, school district, and community agencies.

  • Represent the Upward Bound programs at meetings and facilitate activities designed to encourage underrepresented populations.

  • Provide direct academic support services to participants and supervise activities and cultural events.

  • Maintain professional development, attend training, and comply with supervisor assignments.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Director.


Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, or related field.

  • At least two years of experience working with disadvantaged individuals.

  • Integrity, dignity, and cordiality; effective communication with individuals and groups.

  • Good oral, writing, and technology skills.

  • Ability to plan and conduct workshops, administer and interpret interest inventories, advisement, and admission/financial‑aid applications.
