Job summary

The Boston Foundation is seeking a Program Associate, Education to Career to join the Education team. The role supports grantmaking, research, convening, events, coordination and administrative tasks to advance education initiatives and change-making activities.

Requires strong attention to detail, passion for education, and ability to manage multiple projects. Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years in education is preferred; MS Office skills essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years professional work experience in Education preferred.
  • Knowledge of Boston neighborhoods and area schools and non-profits preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects; organize and coordinate projects with multiple components.
  • Coordinate teamwork and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing and implementing complex activities.
  • Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office products; Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the Foundation’s mission.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Participative work style and ability to receive feedback.
  • Resourceful and able to work independently.
  • Mature interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse people.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Associate Vice President in development, implementation and evaluation of strategies and investments in Education to ensure success and community impact.
  • Keeps informed of activities in the Education field.
  • Maintains calendars and appointments for leadership and Education team; performs other admin tasks.
  • Tracks and reports on grantmaking activities, budgets, and funder collaborations.
  • Conducts basic research for strategy papers and memos; assists in preparing board strategy documents.
  • Tracks program area impact and goals under guidance.
  • Prepares written materials including due diligence, drafts, minutes and updates.
  • Serves as liaison to internal and external partners for events and initiatives.
  • Coordinates meetings and events including attendee schedules and prep.
  • Undertakes special projects with other departments; participates in Programs Dept activities.
