Job description

Position Overview

Education Support Professional for the Axtell Park Middle School Program and High School Programs for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

1. Prepares instructional materials.
2. Reinforces instructional objectives.
3. Follows and carries out behavioral management plans.
4. Tutors students on academics.
5. Refs problems to professional staff.
6. Maintains consistent discipline.
7. Maintains student progress and attendance records.
8. Corrects student assignments.
9. Escorts students within the building and occasionally accompanies students into the community.
10. Maintains the confidentiality of students and their families.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

Education Level

Two years of post‑high‑school education or higher, or ability to pass a standardized test approved by the State of South Dakota for designated Education Support Professional positions.

Experience Desired

One to three years of sustained employment.

Physical Requirements

• Constant hand‑eye, mind‑eye coordination, hearing; intermittent grasping, keyboarding, speaking, and writing.
• Frequent filing, sitting, standing, and walking.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to drive a car.
• Regular contact with students with emotional and conduct‑related disorders.

Other Requirements

• Regular, reliable attendance.

Pay Information

Level G, starting at $18.42 per hour with $2 differential pay for Education Support Professionals, totaling $20.42 per hour. Plus a $1,000 sign‑on bonus. Pay day: last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.

Hours & FTE

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30‑minute unpaid break. 0.875 FTE, 35 hours per week for 9 months.
