Job summary

Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island is seeking an Education Supervisor - PM PT to provide leadership and operational support for the evening education program, overseeing Adult Education and ESL instructors and ensuring high‑quality instruction for diverse adult learners.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 2–3 years of supervisory or instructional leadership experience in Adult Education or ESL programs, with ability to coach staff, manage schedules, and ensure grant

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, TESOL, adult education, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory or instructional leadership experience in Adult Education or ESL programs.
  • Experience with immigrant, refugee, or multilingual adult learners preferred.
  • Ability to teach in blended, online, and classroom modalities.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite supervision and support for evening Adult Education and ESL instructors.
  • Ensure instructional quality aligned with adult education standards and program learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate substitute coverage and act as substitute instructor when needed.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback for instructor growth.
  • Facilitate teacher shares and professional development sessions.
  • Review instructor documentation to ensure syllabi, lesson plans, and student stories are current and complete.
  • Monitor student attendance tracking and reporting to ensure grant/program requirements.
  • Prepare administrative reports related to payroll, grants, and professional development.
  • Support instructors in addressing student concerns and resolving classroom challenges.
  • Participate in Leader on Duty rotation to assist with emergency response and building operations.

The Education Supervisor - PM provides leadership and operational support for the evening Education program. This position oversees Adult Education and ESL instructors and ensures the delivery of high-quality instruction that supports student learning outcomes and program performance goals.

The Supervisor supports instructors through coaching, classroom observation, and professional development while ensuring program compliance with Adult Education standards and reporting requirements. The Supervisor also helps maintain a supportive learning environment for adult learners from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

The Candidate will be responsible for:
  • Providing onsite supervision and acting as a resource to evening Adult Education and ESL instructors with working hours projected to be Monday - Thursday, 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM.
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality instruction aligned with adult education standards and program learning outcomes.
  • Coordinating substitute coverage or serve as a substitute instructor when needed.
  • Conducting classroom observations and provide constructive written and verbal feedback to support instructor professional growth.
  • Facilitating Teacher Shares and professional development sessions to strengthen instructional practices.
  • Reviewing instructor documentation to ensure materials are current and complete, i.e. syllabi, lesson plans, innovative practices, and student stories.
  • Monitoring student attendance tracking and reporting to ensure compliance with grant and program requirements.
  • Preparing and reviewing administrative reports related to payroll, grants, and professional development.
  • Supporting instructors in addressing student concerns and resolving classroom challenges, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for all.
  • Participating in Leader on Duty rotation to assist with emergency response and building operations.
  • Performing additional duties as requested.
The candidate should have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, TESOL, adult education, or related field
  • 2-3 years of supervisory or instructional leadership experience in Adult Education or ESL programs preferred. Strong knowledge of Adult Education instructional practices.
  • Experience working with immigrant, refugee, or multilingual adult learners strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide instructional for adult learners in blended, online, and classroom-based modalities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach, and support instructors.
  • Commitment to student-centered instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced program environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital learning platforms used in adult education programs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across program areas.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability when managing changing program needs.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to program sites when needed.
