Job Summary: This is a seasonal COUNSELOR role for Club U’s 12-14 year old Varsity day camps. Counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Join us in furthering the mission of Club U Summer Day Camp through the delivery of summer program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities under the supervision of the Club U leadership team.
Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Experience and/or interest in working with youth ages 12-14 in a high-energy, outdoor setting. At least 21 years of age (or 18+ with previous camp employment).
