Job summary

Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, Lewiston, seeks an Instructor Specialist to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for youth in a rehabilitation setting at Juniper Hills School.

The role requires an Idaho Education Credential, POST academy eligibility, a valid driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, and willingness to teach outside the primary content area. Training at POST academy is provided during the first year.

Qualifications

• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Idaho Education Credential in accordance with SDE standards.
• Meet POST academy entrance requirements for correction officers including age and certification timelines.
• Must possess a valid Idaho driver’s license.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with no disqualifying background.
• Willingness to teach outside one's content area.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and coordinate educational programs in conjunction with treatment staff and instructors.
• Develop course materials, assess student progress and maintain records.
• Guide students in living skills, safety, and behavior management within a secure facility.
