Job summary

Hord Coplan Macht, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Architect to join our Charlotte PK-12 studio. You will guide design philosophy, coordinate with teams, and lead technical development from concept through construction documents.

You will collaborate with consultants, manage presentations, review shop drawings, and ensure code compliance while delivering high-quality educational spaces.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, design, graphic and visualization skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and experience with project teams.
• Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination.
• Experience in preparing construction documents and construction administration.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
• LEED and/or WELL Building credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops understanding of projects’ design philosophy and communicates it to the team.
• Contributes to technical design, development, coordination and quality control with PM and designer.
• Seeks creative solutions and documents to support them.
• Collaborates with consultants and resources to integrate design and performance goals.
• Contributes to design documents and development of construction documents across phases.
• Advances schematic, design development and CDs in line with scope, schedule and cost.
• Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
• Reviews shop drawings, material samples and CDs for conformance with design.
• Maintains contact with clients, consultants and contractors during all project phases.
